Description

Arhoolie CD 453

L. C. Robinson was born and raised in east Texas, and later relocated to California. A unique and dynamic bluesman, L.C. Robinson played guitar and fiddle, but he was really known for his incredible steel guitar style. On one session he is backed by the Muddy Waters band, on another by his own trio. Includes previously unissued radio broadcast with his brother Reverend A.C. Robinson on vocals and harmonica, while L.C. plays fiddle during these performances of pure holiness songs.

REVIEW

“. . . L.C. ‘Good Rockin’ Robinson [was] one half of the great Robinson Brothers (along with harp-blowing- older bro A.C.) and the most electric performer on the West Coast blues scene for 25 years. . . One thing that separated L.C. from other bluesmen was that he was a stunning multi-instrumentalist. Besides playing guitar and blues fiddle, L.C. was also the master of the lap-steel guitar. . . this Arhoolie CD will remain as the best document available on the great L.C. Robinson. . . absolutely mandatory listening for all fans of real blues.”
