County CD 3509 / North Georgia’s Skillet Lickers band of the late 1920’s and early 30’s still remains one of the most popular of all old-time groups with collectors and students of the music, because of their superb fiddling, Riley Puckett’s driving guitar work and bold singing, and the general spirit of fun and enjoyment that the group projected. This wonderful 16-tune collection is drawn from County’s two early Skillet Lickers LP’s (CO-506 and 526), and is strong on the wonderful fiddle work of Lowe Stokes & Clayton McMichen.
